The Hillsborough County School Board approved five principal appointments Tuesday, including two who come from schools that are closing next month because of low enrollment.

Kimberly Jahn, 52, will become the leader at Eisenhower Exceptional Center and Nishira Mitchell, 40, will take over at Memorial Middle School.

Jahn, who joined the district in 2008, has been the principal of Monroe Middle, which is slated to close. Mitchell, who has worked for Hillsborough schools since 2008, is departing Adams Middle, which will shut down as well.

The board also approved Cassandra Smallen as principal at Tinker K-8. Smallen joined the district in 2006.

Alesha Looper was named principal of Gorrie Elementary. Looper, 55, joined the district in 2001.

Anita Ventura will be the new principal at Lowry Elementary. Ventura, 48, joined the district in 2001.

Smallen, Looper and Ventura are replacing principals who are retiring.
